While it won’t cause permanent damage, it may give the child eye strain or headaches.
Eating carrots won’t correct any vision problems, but it will help keep your eyes healthy. Carrots contain Vitamin A, which is essential in maintaining eye health.
No, but like sitting too close to the television, it may give you eye strain or a headache.
No. Your prescription may change over time because of aging or because your condition is gradually getting worse, but this is not caused by wearing glasses or contacts. Your eyes would change at the same rate even if you did not wear corrective lenses.
Staring at a computer screen, like any electronic screen, can contribute to eye strain, especially if you sit too close to the monitor or if you work in an area with poor lighting. Some studies have also shown that staring at your computer monitor without interruption can actually reduce the number of times that you blink, making your eyes more vulnerable to eye strain, irritation, dryness, and tearing. To help prevent these problems, sit so your monitor is 20” – 24” from your face, adjust your monitor’s brightness to closely match the light level of your work environment, and take breaks from your computer and other screens throughout the day.
There are contact lenses for people with a wide range of vision problems, including nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism, but your eye doctor is best able to decide if it is healthy for you to wear contact lenses or what lenses you should wear. The nature of your vision problem, your lifestyle, and several other factors must be considered before you are prescribed contact lenses. Visit our Contact Lens page for more information.
