Prepare for Your Eye Doctor Visit

Here's everything you need to know for your very first visit with Mason Eye Center.

Your First Visit

Allow five minutes to fill out registration paperwork. Registration materials are also available below so you may fill them out prior to your arrival. This is useful for parents with small children or adults with medical history or medications.

For the Established Patient

Please bring your current insurance card(s), as well as any prior authorizations your insurance company may require. If you wear glasses or contact lenses, please bring those as well.

Many patients have two options from which to choose for how the doctor will examine their eyes. One option is dilation.  The doctor places dilating drops in the patient’s eyes. The patient waits about 20 minutes for the drops to take effect then the doctor views the internal structures of the eyes and records the results. Side effects include blurry vision and light-sensitivity. Dilation can last up to 10 hours.

The other option is retinal photography. This is generally Dr. Snyder's preferred option. A picture is taken of each eye and the photo becomes a permanent part of the patient’s record. This allows the doctor to measure growth and changes in the eyes from year to year. There is a fee to the patient of $39. There are no side effects, and this reduces appointment time by about 15 or 20 minutes.

Time will be allotted to answer all questions regarding diagnoses and management plans.
