Dr. Ted Andrew Snyder received his Doctorate of Optometry from The Ohio State University following undergraduate studies at The University of Akron and Miami University. He graduated as valedictorian from Clear Fork High School in Bellville, Ohio. Dr. Snyder was born and raised in Mansfield, Ohio. In Akron he was selected as a member of Phi Beta Kappa, an Honors fraternity. He graduated in the Top 20 of his optometry class.
In addition to patient care as an optometrist, Dr. Snyder has been a college professor and Department Chair of the Optical Science Program at a local college. He also worked at a LASIK institute, performing pre-operative and post-operative evaluations.
Through his involvement with the Give The Gift of Sight Foundation, he has delivered eye care to needy individuals in Morocco, Bangladesh, Venezuela, Chile, Mexico, Bolivia, and Paraguay. In addition, he has done numerous missions focusing on children throughout Cincinnati with Cincinnati Public Schools, LensCrafters, and Children’s Hospital. Through these programs he has donated eye exams to more than 15,000 needy people. Early in his career, Dr. Snyder was recognized for his volunteer work by President Bill Clinton.
Dr. Snyder has a long-standing interest in working with children. While he was in high school he taught Safety Town, a program which teaches safety to pre-kindergarten children. He has been a Columbus Big Brother and a Cincinnati Youth Collaborative Mentor. His community involvement also includes serving as a Vision Advisor to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles and a Board of Director to Sedamsville Community Council.
International patients are also a special interest of Dr. Snyder’s, as he has a fondness of cultures and languages. He has a map of the world with pins marking where his international patients are born.
Outside interests of Dr. Snyder include a passion for cars, traveling, volleyball, biking, house restoration, photography, and spending time with his dogs. He has rescued 4 dogs and volunteers at Harlequin Haven Great Dane Rescue. Through his photography he seeks to capture a culture in its people and architecture. He has had photography exhibits at the Weston Art Gallery at the Aranoff, the Cincinnati Art Museum One World Wednesdays, Middfest International, Henke Winery, and Higher Ground Coffee House, among other sites.
Nancy Kohler, our office manager, has been with the practice since 2004. She attended the University of Cincinnati RN program.
Nancy entered the ophthalmic field in 1975 and has worked with numerous ophthalmologists in various states. She received her license as an Ophthalmic Technician in 1985. She entered the field of insurance/billing in 1996.
She recently purchased a new home in Ormond Beach, Florida, and is enjoying her new surroundings. Her interests are traveling, reading, motorcycling, and needlepoint.
Nancy has been married for 40 years to her high school sweetheart Ken and has one grown son and two wonderful grandchildren.
March'e James joined the staff of Mason Eye Center in 2015. She enjoys people and is happy to be able to serve patients. She has worked in various clerical settings since 2004.
Some of March'e's outside interests include volunteer work, traveling, poetry, reading, listening to music, and all types of art. March'e and her husband Mica have been married for 8 wonderful years and counting. They share one beautiful daughter.
